It has been a busy couple of weeks for the school football teams. The Year 7 team travelled to Thirsk School in the ESFA National Cup second round. The game was initially very tight with both teams keeping men behind the ball, however, Johnson was able to break the deadlock before Thirsk equalised. In the second half Hurworth stepped up their game and ran away comfortably, Wilson scoring five goals to ensure Hurworth got their name in the hat with a 6-2 win. The lads await the draw for the third round! Well done to all the players on a superb performance.
In the ESFA National Elite Cup first round the Year 10 team had the difficult task of travelling to Hartlepool to face a very strong and powerful unit in Dykehouse School. Hurworth started the game superbly with Wilson scoring a hat-trick within the first 6 minutes of the game, his third hat-trick of the season in only his third appearance! Dykehouse battled well and made a superb game of it, Hurworth hanging on despite a lot of pressure to run out 3-1 winners on the night. The lads now wait to see whether they face Acklam or Kepier in the second round.
Well done to all the lads who played. Two outstanding performances.
