National School Sport Week is an opportunity to get pupils involved in more PE and physical activity. Millions of young people up and down the country have taken part in the week since it began in 2008.
The week is a fantastic opportunity to encourage young people to be more active and take part in more PE and physical activity. At Hurworth, Key Stage 3 pupils had the opportunity to take part in 3 of the following activities.
• Aussie Rules Football
• Mixed Martial Arts
• Bubble Football
• Race for Life
• Boot Camp
Unfortunately, the Year 7 activity day had to be cancelled due to heavy rain. They will have to wait until next year to take part – we had lots of unhappy Year 7’s!!
The other year groups had a fantastic time and were praised by the external coaches as to how well behaved, polite and hard workings they were.
This year’s activities also saw our first ever ‘Race for Life’ organised by Miss Curry, in which many pupils took part and raised lots of money for Cancer Research UK. An extra special mention must go to Alice P in Year 8 who managed to raise a staggering £135 on her own! A great effort Alice!
Pupils and staff are extremely tired from the week but are already thinking about what activities to include next year!
Thanks for everyone’s help and support throughout this week!
