Hurworth School is an 11-16 Secondary School which offers places in accordance with the school’s published admission criteria.
As members of a community comprehensive school, students have full access to and experience of the curriculum regardless of race, class, gender, physical ability and religious belief. The school promotes a sense of self-esteem, responsibility and tolerance in young people. It values and challenges the individual so that they achieve the highest levels of attainment whatever their starting point.
Disadvantaged Pupils is therefore a key resource for ensuring the realisation of this inclusive and aspirational ethos. The nature of the issue makes it essential that personalised rather than blanket support is provided for students.
The Disadvantaged Pupils Grant is paid to schools for students who are: recorded as being eligible for Free School Meals in the last 6 years, who are ‘Looked After’ or who have a parent serving in the armed forces.
